Disclosure of disease to employer for medical leave

If I am taking a leave for 2-3 weeks for surgery & treatment of disease, then am I required to inform my employer about the exact & specific disease I am having and the surgery I am undergoing? Or will a doctor's certificate that "due to certain medical condition a surgery is conducted and 2 weeks bed rest advised will suffice"? Am I compelled to disclose my exact disease/surgery to the employer in light of my Right to Privacy under Indian Constitution? Is such privacy also covered under any other law?

The organization usually has its medical leave policy. They usually require a doctor's certificate to serve as a proof of illness if the leave is more than 3 days. If you are being forced to disclose illness you may seek protection under Right to Privacy but it has to be a reasonable concern for privacy.
