what is the main difference between BBMP trade license and shop license ,from shop and establishment act 1961 issued from department of labour, also is BBMP license mandatory for all the shops and small hotels

Answer 1

BBMP trade licence is a permission given as per Section 353 of Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976. This section states that no place within the limits of the city shall be used for any of the purposes mentioned in Schedule X without a license obtained from the Commissioner and except in accordance with the condition, specified therein. In other words, it is mandatory for the shops that are listed in the Schedule to obtain a licence. (Schedule X can be accessed from here. ) On the other hand, registration of a shop is different than license. Such registration is required under the Karnataka Shops & Commercial Establishments Act, 1962. This act provides for the regulation of conditions of work and employment in shops and commercial

establishments. (For more details about which establishments need registration check here.)
