The gendered nature of crime is being dealt by the judiciary in a very urgent manner. For instance the rape laws prevalent in India have been amended to incorporate the current needs of the society and also to ensure not only protection of victims but also speedy remedy due to the sensitive nature of such an offence. Apart from this, The Protection of Women Against Sexual Harassment at Work Place Act, 2013 was also passed to ensure redressal of grievances faced by women at their workplace. The Act calls for the constitution of an Internal Complaints Committee at each office or branch with 10 or more employees to address complaints, gather evidence and provide for conciliation before initiating enquiry as per the request of the complainant.
