Father’s name spelt wrong in documents

The Problem is about 'Name'. My Father's name is ISHWARDAS and it is spelled right on all my documents,Educational,and IDs. But the problem is my father name on his service documents and on pan, etc is spelled ESHWAR . So my question is what document,procedure is needed to show these two names of my father?

Correct name in respective documents is absolutely necessary. So if the name in your documents is different from what is spelled in your father’s document, you might face troubles in future. So you should apply for change or rectification of name.

For pan card:

Apply for, changes or corrections in PAN data through online form by Income Tax Department. Users can apply for changes or corrections in PAN data by selecting appropriate category of applicants such as individual, firm, company, etc. Details about procedure of applying online for, changes or corrections in PAN data, processing fee, mode of submission of documents and category of applicant are also available.

For Voter ID Card

The Election Commission of India has introduced an online application process to change or edit names in a voter’s ID card. The process is listed below:

  • Visit the website of the Chief Election Officer for your state, where you will find online forms.
  • Fill in Form 8, the form for application to change name in the electoral roll.
  • Once you have filled in the form, upload the documents required- for change of name, upload official proof such as copy of the government gazette.
  • For correction of name, upload a document where the name is spelled correctly, such as passport, PAN card or any official document.
  • Submit the form and documents online.
  • A reference number will be generated, through which you can track the status of your application online.
  • Once submitted, your application will be processed and information verified by the electoral authorities.
  • If the verification is successful, you will receive a notification and you can collect the voter ID card from the nearest electoral office

OR

You can file a name change or rectification through public gazzete.

1. Affidavit:
Go to you local Notary and make an affidavit regarding change of your name. Submit the same your respective District Court before a Magistrate or Notary Public. The Affidavit must mention the current name and the desired new name, and may mention in brief the reason for name change, in your case you should mention that the spelling is misspelled. The Affidavit must be made on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper of minimal value.

2. Newspaper Publication:
The next step is to publish advertisements announcing your name change in two local newspapers – one in the local official language and another in English.

3. Gazette Notification
Get your name published in the Official Gazette of your state. For this purpose, you must approach the Government Press of your respective state and fill up the form for the same and pay the prescribed fees. Your name change notification will be published in the state’s Official Gazette and you will be sent copies of the same at the address given by you.

You will have to get affidavit before tahsildar for both name of one person and issue paper publication afte that apply to Gazette officer for change name and also you should be filed suit for declaration for change name in you educational or other documents
