Employment under Compassionate grounds

  • 1 Answer

My husband worked for a RRB (Regional Rural Bank) as an officer cadre for 28 years till his last breath. He was expired due to severe illness during his service period by leaving our family in to unrecoverable sadness. I have received information from the bankers that the Government of India has re-introduced the job opportunity for their family member under compassionate grounds in the banking sector. Is it applicable for RRB's.

As per Circular No.CIR/HR&IR/2014-15/532/476 dated 11th August, 2014 under cover of with “To open the Compassionate Appointment in Public Sector Banks on the lines of Central Government” and “Discontinuing the provision of ex-gratia in lieu of Compassionate Appointment in Public Sector Banks”   , such a policy was introduced.

But, Public Sector Banks (PSBs) are banks where a majority stake (i.e. more than 50%) is held by a government. The shares of these banks are listed on stock exchanges. There are a total of 27 PSBs in India [21 Nationalized banks + 6 State bank group (SBI + 5 associates)and this policy is only applicable to them.

RRBs are not Public Sector Banks and thus this policy does not extend to you.
